A stylish single speed bicycle which we recently created, based on a lugged steel Sancineto road frame and fork. Tubeset is Columbus ‚Neuron’. The frame set is naked, so to speak, having left the factory without being painted nor branded with decals. The lower fork blades, head tube area and lower rear triangle have a polished chrome finish, but the fork crown, main tubes, seat lug and bottom bracket have a brushed finish. This is actually intended to ensure maximum paint adhesion, but it looks great left bare.
We built it up with short straight handlebars adorned with Brooks leather and cork grips, matched to a comfortable brown Selle San Marco ‚Rolls‘ saddle. A nice set of wheels with Campagnolo SWT ‚Sydney 2000‘ silver anodized aero rims laced to Campagnolo Chorus hubs, wrapped with Continental tyres, get things rolling. Campagnolo Chorus brakes bring things to a swift stop. Campagnolo Super Record crankset, fitted with a single 52 tooth ring, matched to an 18 tooth freewheeling sprocket at the back.
The young lady for whom we put this together was understandably delighted, and rode away smiling!
